Coaching for Transformation
At this moment in your life when so much has shifted for all of us:
- Is there a change you’ve been thinking about – such as in career, relationship, lifestyle, or mindset – but you’ve struggled to choose a path and move forward?
- Do you find that perfectionism is an obstacle to creating the life you want – that if you can’t guarantee you will do something perfectly from the outset, it can be hard to do it at all?
- Is there a project you’ve been wanting to pursue for ages – maybe a book, a business or a creative endeavor – but you just haven’t been able to figure out how to get started?
- Or maybe you taken some initial steps but find that you are stuck and not making the progress you are looking for?
- Do you recognize that you have been complicit in systems of oppression around race, gender, or other aspects of identity and want to come into alignment with your values in how you come to the people and systems around you?
- Have you realized that your life has gotten out of balance, perhaps that you are not living in line with your deeply held values, but you are not sure how to get back to balance and alignment?
If any of those sound like you, working with a certified professional coach is a powerful way to help you to break through in the places where you have been stuck. Through Coaching for Transformation I can support you in making real and lasting change so you can create the life you’ve been seeking.
Since 2014 I have been helping clients apply the work of Brené Brown, PhD, through the Daring Way™. In these small-group programs I have supported hundreds of clients in moving through barriers like perfectionism and shame so that they can cultivate authenticity, resilience, and deep connection. My long experience as a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator grounds and informs my coaching practice.
I initially began training in Coaching for Transformation in order to strengthen my group facilitation work. I discovered that coaching is so much more than just a set of skills. Coaching is an immensely powerful approach for catalyzing growth and change. Through coaching you can come home to yourself and make fundamental changes in how you live, work, and relate.
I have seen people:
- Change careers or start new businesses so their work aligns with their vision and their passion
- Open new avenues for communication and build stronger, more nourishing relationships with their loved ones
- Bring creative expression into their lives through writing, art, dance, music, and more
- Finally implement the practices they need to create genuine wellbeing on all levels – body, mind, heart, and spirit
Coaching is potent tool for stepping into your genuine, empowered self and bringing your unique contributions to the world around you. I believe that when we choose to authentically show up in our lives, we inspire others to do the same. The positive change we make ripples outward to our loved ones, our communities and the wider world.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Coaching for Transformation?
Coaching is a powerful, ongoing relationship that helps you focus and realize your vision and goals. You will get the tools and support to remove obstacles and facilitate change. Coaching for Transformation is founded on the belief that people are inherently whole, resourceful, and wise. The coach’s task is not to tell you what course of action to take, but rather to support you in accessing your own inner wisdom and deep alignment about how to proceed. This comes through approaches such as:
- Being fully present with you and offering curious questions and reflections
- Assisting you in viewing decisions and obstacles from fresh vantage points
- Helping you to connect your current goals and challenges to your deeper needs and values
- Holding space for you to envision your future and the steps that will take you from here to there
- Providing supportive accountability so you know you are moving forward toward your goals
Coaching for Transformation also puts an emphasis on cultural awareness and social change, on supporting people in making positive impacts in their communities and in the wider world. It is a holistic approach that honors the value of work on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Training in Coaching for Transformation is provided by Leadership that Works.
How is coaching different from therapy? Can I have both a coach and a therapist?
Coaching focuses on strategic planning and personal growth and does not have the goal of healing emotional trauma. It is centered in the wholeness and resourcefulness of the client, while therapy often centers on shoring up perceived deficits in the client. In general, coaching is more present and future focused, while therapy tends to be more past focused.
Coaches will refer clients to psychotherapy for issues that are better suited to a therapeutic relationship, and many people find the combined support of coaching and therapy invaluable as they approach change and growth.
What does a typical session look like?
At the beginning of each session, you set the agenda both for will be focused on and what constitutes success for the call, and the coach follows that agenda. You can expect powerful and clarifying questions that connect to your essential needs and values, focused and fine-tuned planning tools, and accountability to support you in taking tangible steps toward the change you seek.
How many coaching sessions will it take to reach my goals?
I offer initial packages of 60-minute sessions starting with 8 or 12 sessions. This is the minimum number needed to set and reach goals and to make real and lasting changes. Initial sets of sessions can be followed with additional packages or ongoing sessions for the next phase of a project or transformation.
How frequently should I schedule my coaching sessions?
Coaching sessions every 1-2 weeks work best. Weekly support tends is the best for keeping up momentum, especially if you are in the midst of a major change, such as a project or business launch, career pivot, or relationship transition. Sessions every other week give more time to complete steps between sessions and are a better fit for some individuals.
How much does coaching cost?
My regular coaching rate is $200 per 60-minute session. However, I want to make the support of coaching available to more people in this time when so many lives are disrupted. For spring and summer 2021, I am offering packages of 8 sessions for $1097 ($500 savings) and packages of 12 sessions for $1597 ($800 savings). This has been a challenging time in so many ways, and it is also a moment where we can step back and make powerful change in our lives that can last into the years to come.
How do I access my coaching sessions?
Coaching sessions take place over Zoom, a free video chat platform. You can attend the session using any device with a webcam and a reliable internet connection, such as a smart phone, tablet, or laptop, and you will be able to test out Zoom on your discovery call. Phone sessions are available as a backup, but video calls as strongly preferred as they allow for deeper connection.
